About

Page

When I read a new blog, I read the “about me.” I am curious to know, “Who is this person?” So let me tell you about who I am. I laugh at myself when I goof up. I write stories in my head, but I struggle to sort out the words to make them flow when I put them on paper. I am crazy in love with my husband and my kids are my heart. I’m at a place in my life where I should relax and enjoy, but I have this feeling there is something I want to achieve. This feeling drives me to write.

Facts: I am a writer, a reader, a wife, a mom, a grandmother, and a retired teacher.

Human Interest: I live in a big old house with two amazing teenagers and my phenomenal husband. We share this old house with a goldfish and a tortoise cat. Our eldest son is grown and lives with his wife and our two precious grandsons.

I Read:  a variety of books such as, The Weird Sisters, The Tell Tale Brain, Alexander McCall Smith’s Isabel Dalhousie novels are clever, but my favorite “curl up to read” books are young adult fantasy like Michael Scott’s, The Alchemyst. I enjoy some of the classics too, Dickens!Gone With the Wind, anything by Steinbeck, and obscure books like The Egyptian by Mika Waltari. My contemporary hero is Stephen King, but I would like to write like Madeline L’Engle.

Likes: Moonlight walks, happy endings, gardens, rocks, sitting by the fireplace, cheese enchiladas, reading, writing, movies, desserts, Downton Abbey, Agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes, exploring, walking, traveling, and people, but not necessarily in that order.

Well, there you have it, All About Me or at least a blurb. Please stop by my blog and leave a comment. It will be fun to hear from you.

  1. Hi, Laurel! I just love your ABOUT page! You laugh at yourself when you goof up? So do I! Hey, what’s life without a sense of humor? And if you can’t laugh at yourself when you make mistakes, life’s no fun. 🙂

I also appreciate how you talk about your love for your family (especially for your husband who you are crazy in love with–how sweet) and for your children who are your heart. In a world that is sorely lacking in love in general and particularly love of family, it is so refreshing to hear someone speak of how much their family means to them.

There is so much more that you said that I appreciate. To sum it all up in a nutshell, you sound like a person who enjoys life and also encouraging others, and I feel drawn to you.

Thanks for following me, encouraging me, and for sharing your inspirational thoughts.

    • Maxine, You have made my day. A comment on my blog! Thank you for all your kind words. I do love my family tons and I love that you thought enough to comment!
I have just used up my monthly limit of exclamation marks. Okay, now I’m just being down right silly, but I do appreciate the comment and look forward to following your blog.
